In recent years, Europe and East Asia have experienced high broadband uptake. However, the European nations are still behind Japan and Korea in terms of broadband penetration and FTTx development.
It is clear that public intervention is playing an important role in next-generation network development. This report looks at the regulatory environment and national strategies for broadband in Europe and Asia. We review the regulatory challenges in investment and competition, and look at the current regulatory approaches of these two regions.
